On September 25th at approximately 08:00 am, a traffic collision occurred on Shell Boulevard at Balclutha Dr. The collision involved a 12 year old male bicyclist and a motor vehicle. The male bicyclist was traveling south on Shell Boulevard when he was struck by a brown 4 door sedan exiting Balclutha Dr. onto Shell Blvd. The driver was described as a darker skinned older male with gray hair, possibly Indian. The collision caused the bicyclist to fall off his bike and sustain a minor injury to his ankle. The driver exited his vehicle and spoke with the bicyclist; however he left without exchanging any information. The Police Department is looking for any information that could help in this investigation. If you or anyone you know saw this collision please contact Officer Acosta at Foster City Police Department (650)286-3300.
Today's incident should serve as a reminder of the need to drive with caution, whether in a vehicle or on a bike. Drivers should be mindful that children will be riding bikes and walking to school during early morning hours. Parents should remind their children to ride their bikes in the direction of traffic, walk their bikes when crossing any streets, and to carefully cross driveways.
