BIO

On November 5, 2024, Suzy Niederhofer was elected to serve a four-year term on the City Council.

Suzy has lived in Foster City over 45 years. A native of Foster City, her parents and three older siblings moved from San Francisco to Foster City’s Neighborhood 2 in 1965 before she was born. She attended Audubon Elementary School, Bowditch Middle School and Notre Dame Belmont High School. While growing up she took countless dance classes at the Foster City Recreation Center. Suzy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from California State University Sacramento and her MBA from San Jose State University.

Suzy has over 32 years local government finance experience. She began working for the City of Mountain View in 1989 as an Intern in the Finance Department, working her way up in various capacities until serving the last 12 years as their Assistant Finance and Administrative Services Director, managing the Budget, Investments, Revenue, and Accounting Sections of the Department before retiring in 2021. She continues to work on special projects for the City of Mountain View and provides support to Finance staff as needed. She has also served as the Interim Finance Director for the City of Los Altos while they recruited for a new Finance Director.

Suzy and her husband, Jamie Cavagnaro, raised their two sons in Foster City. While the boys were growing up, she was involved in youth sports and the community, including:

· Foster City Little League Treasurer for 7 years

· Coach and volunteer for AYSO

· Team treasurer Peninsula Youth Soccer Club for 3 years

· 14 years volunteering with her husband in his work as a member of the Rotary Club of Foster City

Suzy has deep roots in Foster City and wants to see it continue to thrive with our beautiful lagoon, parks, recreation, outstanding schools, and strong sense of community. She believes it is important for the City to be fiscally sound and for the City’s leaders to collaboratively set clear policy and direction to accomplish goals and complete projects timely.
