BIO
Art is a 30-plus year resident of Foster City and a third generation San Franciscan where he was raised until being drafted into the US Army. Art is married, has two sons two granddaughters.
Civic involvement began in 2000 on the Foster City Information Technology Advisory Committee then served on Foster City Planning Commission for 3 ½ years. Art was twice elected to the City Council of Foster City for 8 years and twice as Mayor and is now back for a third term. Art ran for the California State Assembly in 2016.
Art served as Council Liaison to both the Foster City Planning Commission and Audit Committee.
As an active member of the League of California Cities serving as a member of the Policy Committee for Transportation, Communications, and Public Works in 2009 and a member (and one-time chair) of the Policy Committee for Housing, Community & Economic Development from 2010 through 2015 all representing San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.
Art was elected by a peer group of City Council members from both San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties to the Board of Directors of the League of California Cities in 2011, representing both counties.
Art represented Foster City on the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) as a Board member for four years, a member of the Legislative Committee, and was instrumental in establishing the Finance Committee upon which he served.
Art has been a member of the Foster City Lions Club since 2004 and served as President and selected as Lion of the Year.
Art's career has included software development and consultant for over 50 years during which he built 5 proprietary accounting and financial support systems and recently retired from the position of CFO for 13 years of a privately owned $15 million a year company specializing in government and military contracts.
