Join the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA for Field to Fork: A Series on Sustainable Eating and Animal Welfare. In this three-part series, listen to professionals present their findings on the environmental impact of meat production and the alternative impact of a plant-based diet. This is a free event, but donations are welcome at the door. The presentations will take place at the Lantos Center for Compassion (1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010). Please reserve just one space (November 16) for all three presentations.
November 16th, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Tarah Heinzen, Staff Attorney with Food & Water Watch, will speak about how industrial livestock production impacts the environment and some of the legal, policy, and organizing strategies for holding the factory farm industry accountable.
November 30th, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Education Field Director, Janessa Olsen, from Ethical Choices Program will discuss the role of animal welfare in making informed and compassionate food choices and how the affordability of animal products is negatively reflected in the lives of billions of animals within the agriculture industry.
December 7th, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Debra Shapiro, MD and certified Plant Based Nutrition expert and Health Coach, will speak about reversible diseases associated with meat and dairy consumption, how to achieve ideal physical health through a plant-based diet, and steps to take in exploring this significant lifestyle change.
