By repairing streets proactively on an annual basis, the roadways in Foster City consistently rank among the best maintained roadways in the Bay Area, which contributes to the high quality of life we enjoy in the City.
Starting September 5, 2017, the City's contractor, G. Bortolotto, Inc. will begin this year's street rehabilitation project to repair Foster City's streets (see Attachment A). Barring any weather-related delays, work is expected to be completed by the end of November. This year's rehabilitation project includes installation of curb ramps, bike lane markings called sharrows, and asphalt paving. In addition, brick pavers and concrete bands at crosswalks on Chess Drive, west of Foster City Boulevard will be removed and replaced with asphalt.
To minimize disruptions, work will take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM for the residential streets, and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for the boulevards. During construction, streets may be temporarily closed and on-street parking prohibited during the day of work. Access to driveways may also be restricted.
The contractor will distribute two advance written notifications to the residents impacted by the work. Temporary parking restriction signage will also be posted along the roadway to alert motorists. Residents are encouraged to park their vehicles on a nearby street during the times and dates posted. If you plan to be on vacation, please park your vehicle in your driveway or garage.
The City appreciates everyone's patience and cooperation for any inconveniences caused by construction activities as we strive to improve the roadways in Foster City. Please contact the Public Works Department at (650) 286-3270 if you have any questions or comments.
Updated project information will be posted on the City's website at www.fostercity.org.
