Cancelled - Compost Giveaway

Foster City residents are reminded that they can pick up free compost year-round at Shoreway Environmental Center, located at 333 Shoreway Road in San Carlos.  

Simply go to the scale house (accessible via Gate 1) and show proof of residency.  Residents will be provided with up to two empty paper bags (approx. 3 cubic feet), which can be filled with the free compost. Residents need to be prepared to fill and load the bags themselves. www.rethinkwaste.org/compost

RethinkWaste and Recology San Mateo County are teaming up with the City of Foster City to give residents FREE compost. The compost is made from yard trimmings and food scraps collected through the CartSMART and BizSMART programs and composted at nearby composting facilities. The compost is ideally used as an amendment to enrich soil for lawns, gardens, ornamental plants, trees, and potted plants. By applying compost to landscaping and mixing it with soil, people put organic resources into the soil, providing a non-chemical alternative to fertilizers.

Residents should bring shovels, gloves, and containers. Proof of residency will be required. Please note that the event will only be available until the time listed or while supplies last.
