Foster City’s unique brand and identity is the open park space connected by the water lagoon. In Foster City, our community creates social connections and life experiences in our park system. Leo Ryan Park, inclusive of the Recreation Center, the VIBE Teen Center, tennis, bocce and pickle ball courts, a skate park, and most prominently, the central lagoon, is the heart of our City; it is part of the fabric of our community.

To me, sustainability is the power to endure.

Foster City has been proactive on this front. Back in 2013 Foster City took a giant first step under blue skies and bright sunshine – sustainability took off.

"Why did I choose to be a councilmember?”

The answer won’t surprise you. To Serve, To Guide and To Make a Difference!

At the upcoming City Council meeting on February 20th, the City Council will be voting on the language to be used for the ballot measure to upgrade our levee. As you all know, our City needs to meet sea level rise as mandated by BCDC and to protect our cherished city from being placed in a flood zone by FEMA.

Please join me by voting to SUPPORT the ballot measure!

As you read my Council Corner, I have left the country (not the building as Elvis did, nor did I get sent away). My wife and I are in Europe for vacation celebrating our 30th anniversary, so I wrote this prior to leaving.

What are you doing on October 11, 2017 at 6:30pm? I’d like to invite you to come join your fellow residents and City staff in the Lagoon Room at the Recreation Center to participate in our third installment of Foster City’s Community Dialogue Series focused on transportation and mobility.

Foster City is a planned community. What does that truly mean?

Take a seat, close your eyes (ok, not literally, as I want you to read this), and indulge me for a minute.

So often we hear catch phrases that resonate differently to each of us. Lately I am hearing the phrase, “do not do this or do that, as it will affect my quality of life.”

Quality of life is not the same to any two people!

So often I receive e-mails from residents asking us as a City Council to protect their quality of life. When I get gas or go shopping, ride my bike around town, visit one of our 24 parks to see kids playing sports, I wonder what they mean by protecting their quality of life?

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you wanna go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.

Ticket to Ride. As your elected official, my responsibility is first and foremost to you, the residents who elected me to serve on our City Council. Since my first day on the job, I dug in and began to involve myself with matters that I am passionate about, including a particular interest in transportation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This Council Corner edition represents my third year of wishing all of Foster City a very happy and healthy New Year. I couldn’t be more honored.
