Post Office Relocation Project

San Mateo-Foster City Branch at 1050 Shell Boulevard, Foster City, CA 94404

The United States Post Office, previously located at 1050 Shell Blvd., is working on establishing a new location in Foster City. This move is a result of a lease expiration, as the landlord of the current site has plans to redevelop the property. In the meantime, the following link provides information from the Post Office indicating where you can drop off mail in Foster City (including in front of City Hall): Foster City Mail Box Locations.

Please see the supporting documents below to learn more about the Post Office relocation process; including a letter from the United States Postal Services regarding their Final Decision Regarding San Mateo-Foster City Branch Post Office Located at 1050 Shell Boulevard, Frequently Asked Questions, and a recent press release on the progress of this project.

Also in supporting Documents is a June 28, 2018 letter from Congresswoman Jackie Speier to the residents of Foster City regarding the Foster City Post Office.

Please contact Dante Hall at (650) 286-3220 or USPS if you have questions or comments.

November 2018 Update

The United States Post Office (USPS) has informed the City that Post Office construction is 90% complete, but anticipates a delay in completion. USPS officials are waiting on final electrical and power work by PG&E, which has been delayed due to a mistake in the work order and staff availability as a result of the recent Camp Fire.

The City understands how vital postal services are to the community. We remain diligent and dedicated to working with USPS officials and PG&E to expedite the remaining work. Once an updated timeline is determined, we will provide additional details on the opening date.
