City Attorney
Benjamin L. Stock of the law firm of Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP was appointed as the City Attorney on August 2, 2021. The City Attorney serves as the corporate counsel to the City as an entity and is responsible for providing legal services and counsel to the City Council and City staff on a broad range of municipal issues so that they may lawfully attain the City's goals and minimize risk to the City. The City Attorney drafts the City's ordinances, resolutions, and contracts. He also provides advice on issues related to open meeting laws, public records act, conflicts of interest, land use and environment laws, municipal elections, code enforcement, development, municipal utilities, personnel and labor relations, City policies and procedures, liability claims and litigation and other legal matter arising from the City's business operations.
