Year End Thoughts ...

December 11, 2019

As we approach the year-end, I want to thank the Foster City community again for your trust and confidence in me in representing you and the continued reinforcements throughout the year on your support.

I have worked tirelessly on the opportunity that I was given to serve you all. A year later, I am not only extremely well versed in the City issues, I have solidified my vision for our future and have developed strong point of views on the short-term and long-term goals that will help in shaping a brighter future forall of us. I have significantly enhanced my engagement with the community through multiple channels and with the regional electeds and leaders. I will continue on that path.

I have and will continue to hold myself and others to higher professional and ethical standards. This applies to the City Council and to the City Staff.

Foster City residents pay a lot to live here. Taxpayers expect more from us. They don’t want to see dysfunction and discord in the City Council. They want the City Council to collaborate and work together on what is best for Foster City. Having a City Council that functions well, collaborates, has respectful discourse, the highest levels of ethics and honesty, are the primary and minimum requirements. I would challenge us to go above and beyond that.  Together with the City Staff we must demonstrate highest levels of professionalism leading to better results and continued progress. Our community expects wise and prudent governance. Our residents are extremely smart. They may or may not be vocal, but they do acknowledge and recognize good quality work and they expect that from us. We owe our community that.

This is going to be a critical year for us. We have a number of important initiatives that we need to make progress and deliver on. Further, we need to provide a strong representation of Foster City in the region. We also need to stay on top of the state initiatives and keep a close eye on Sacramento. Today we are reaping the rewards of the hard work and prudent governance by past City Councils and enjoy the strong fiscal position Foster City has had. We need to work hard to provide the same for the future generations.

I am confident that with the focus on our goals and with a positive outlook, we should be able to optimize the unique credentials & perspectives we all bring to the table.

That would be a big win for all of us and for our community.

I wish you all Happy Holidays and a great New Year!  I am looking forward to leading our City into a great 2020 and beyond with all of you. Please continue to reach out to me at rawasthi@fostercity.org.
