Sanjay Gehani - Council Corner
Dear Foster City,
In this Council Corner, I would like to share an overview regarding the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) and our plan to meet our requirements through 2023 with an Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO). I have pulled information from various staff reports, conversations with our staff and Council Members from other cities, and websites to provide an overview for you here. It is important for you to have a basic level of understanding of these topics as a basis for engaging with staff and City Council when we discuss housing development and the execution of policy decisions the City Council may make this year.
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Recently, I have received multiple messages and calls from you about the path airplanes have been taking over our City and the associated noise. The effects are extremely disruptive to many in our community. We are not alone in our frustrations with airplane noise. Residents across the peninsula have been very upset about airplane noise for a long time. I would like to share information with you regarding the efforts being put forth to raise awareness about aircraft noise and the challenges we are facing.
What will our City look like in 2040? In these times, the only constant is change. Over the next 20 years, the Bay Area will change and Foster City will change. If you would like to have a say in what happens in Foster City and around us, you have to make your voice heard to the City Council and we, as a City Council, have to develop strategic relationships with the cities around us to ensure we represent you and our region to the State.
It has been an amazing experience getting to the “starting line”. The past few months have re-affirmed my belief in you, my community. We are capable, dynamic, and hungry for success. You want to be heard and, collectively, we want thoughtful solutions to the regional and local challenges we are facing.
