Crown Castle Fiber/Node Installation
Description
Foster City has approved a permit application from Crown Castle to deploy a small cell network of low-powered antennas called "nodes" on right-of-way infrastructure such as streetlights. These nodes are connected to one another by fiber optic cable and can handle large amounts of data at high speeds. Small cells complement existing wireless infrastructure, such as towers, adding capacity and coverage to highly populated areas. Locations of installations are illustrated on the map above.
Installation of the fiber network requires some street trenching, which will introduce delays, lane reductions and may require traffic detours. Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution in all work areas for their safety, and the safety of the public and workers. Please observe all posted traffic signs through construction zones. Work activities will be limited to the hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Crown Castle is responsible to restore all streets to their original condition or better.
As of July, 2023, this project is underway, and construction will be on-going for the next year.
