July is Parks and Recreation Month
Since 1985, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) has designated the month of July as Parks and Recreation Month. Now that summer has arrived, the Foster City Parks and Recreation Department encourages you to check out the many parks and recreation opportunities available for the entire family! Come enjoy participating in the many free special events, such as a Summer Concert, the weekly mobile food truck marketplace through Off the Grid, or the Community Bike Ride. Whether you’re interested in going on a walk or having a picnic, it’s a great time to visit one of the twenty-four beautiful parks Foster City has to offer. The Recreation Department also offers a variety of classes from fitness to art for all aged participants.
Benefits of Parks and Recreation:
- Access to the serenity and inspiration of nature
- Outdoor space to play and exercise
- Facilities for self-directed and organized recreation
- Positive alternatives for youth, which can help decrease juvenile crime
- Activities that facilitate social connections, human development, therapy, the arts, and lifelong learning
For July 2019, be sure to check our event calendar to participate in one of the many events we have planned which include:
The Foster City Parks and Recreation Department encourages the community to show what you love about our parks and programs this July by sharing your photos with us.
