Fire Department Administration Division
Fire Administration sets Department policy and provides administrative support to the Department. Fire Administration also maintains all records and provides administrative support to the organization.
Fire Chief
The Fire Chief, John Healy, is the Executive Manager of the Fire Department and reports to the City Manager. He manages the department's $8 million budget, sets policy and oversees all department operations. The Foster City Fire Chief is a shared position with the City of San Mateo. Deputy Fire Chief
The Deputy Fire Chief, Gary Hegwer, manages the Operations Division for the cities of Foster City, Belmont and San Mateo. The Shared Deputy Fire Chief manages a combined 9 fire stations, 3 Battalion Chiefs, and 120 Fire Captains and Firefighters.
Administrative Battalion Chief
The Administrative Battalion Chief, Michael Towns, manages the day-to-day administrative operations for the cities of Foster City, Belmont and San Mateo. The Administrative Battalion Chief tracks projects, maintains continuity between divisions and manages workflow processes. The Foster City Administrative Battalion Chief is a shared position with the City of San Mateo and is also contracted to provide support to the Belmont Fire Protection District.
Administrative Secretary
The Administrative Secretary provides clerical support to the Fire Department. Reporting to the Administrative Battalion Chief, the Administrative Secretary answers and directs incoming calls, prepares correspondence, provides computer support for department members and maintains files.
