On 10/25/2019, at 12:49 p.m., Foster City police officers responded to 1297 Chess Drive on a report of a suspicious vehicle traveling through the parking lot while its occupants were walking around and looking into parked vehicles. The witness called the Foster City Police Department and reported that a white Hyundai Tucson had driven through the Home Depot parking lot, and its occupants were looking into cars. Soon after, the witness then reported the same white Hyundai Tucson driving through the parking lot of The Habit Burger (1297 Chess Drive), and two males wearing hooded sweatshirts were looking into various cars. The witness reported it appeared the two men were looking to break into cars, so the witness called the Foster City Police Department to report the suspicious activity.

The responding officers quickly arrived in the area and located the white Hyundai Tucson traveling eastbound on Chess Drive in front of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City. The officers stopped the vehicle to investigate the suspicious activity that was reported and contacted the driver and three occupants in the vehicle, all of whom where males.

During the investigation, the officers discovered the driver to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and a passenger in the vehicle was on probation, requiring him to allow officers to search him and his property. During a search of the vehicle, a tool used specifically to break car windows and commonly used by thieves to break into cars was discovered inside it. Additionally, the officers discovered the driver and occupants were in possession of numerous credit cards and additional property, which did not belong to the occupants. Further investigation by FCPD Detectives revealed the credit cards and other property were stolen from the property owner’s vehicles while parked in the parking lots of retail centers located in the cities of Millbrae and Santa Clara.

Arrested for various criminal violations including conspiracy to commit crime, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, prowling, and attempted auto burglary were the following suspects: Richard Trevaun Nicholas Hanzy, a 19 year-old San Francisco resident; Kamron Malek Albert Johnese, a 20 year-old San Francisco resident; Corey Raynellalexa Martinturner, a 25 year-old San Francisco resident, who was also booked for violating the terms of his probation; and Cortez Malik Wilson, 24 year-old Oakland resident, who was also charged with driving on suspended license.  All four suspects were booked into the San Mateo County Jail.

The Foster City Police Department acknowledges those who reported the suspicious activity with detailed information that facilitated officers locating and arresting the suspects. We would like to remind everyone that when reporting an incident or a crime to please provide as many specific details as possible. Additionally, we would like to remind everyone to safeguard your personal property by not leaving it in your car and by securing it elsewhere.
