Street Rehabilitation Work Planned to Begin Next Week

Starting Monday, October 10, the City’s contractor Radius Earthwork Incorporated will begin a street rehabilitation project to repair Foster City’s streets. Barring any delays due to weather, work is expected to be completed by the end of December 2022.

The Street Rehabilitation Project consists of various pavement treatments. Grinding and overlay is planned on Bounty Drive (from Comet Drive to Shell Boulevard) and on Dolphin Isle. Crack sealing and slurry seal is planned on Shell Boulevard (from E. Hillsdale Boulevard to Shell Bridge), Constitution Drive (from Comet Drive to Lurline Drive), Boothbay Avenue (from Edgewater Boulevard to Galveston Street), Chesapeake Avenue (from Boothbay Avenue to Biscayne Avenue), Nantucket Street, and Port Royal Avenue (from Boothbay Avenue to Edgewater Boulevard). Ramp upgrades meeting Americans with Disability Act (ADA) standards and new bike lanes are also planned in various locations in the work area.

Work will take place Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Shell Boulevard and between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on all other streets.

Lanes may be temporarily closed during construction, and on-street parking prohibited during the day of work. Access to driveways may also be restricted. Please follow posted signs and traffic control measures for safe travel through construction zones.

By repairing streets proactively on an annual basis, the roadways in Foster City consistently rank among the best maintained in the Bay Area, which contributes to the high quality of life in the City. The City appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation with any inconveniences caused by construction activities.
