On Saturday, July 31 at 1 p.m., the San Mateo County History Museum the Courthouse Docket educational series continues as Richard Hopper presents, “Construction of Foster City 1960 – 1980”.  As the former Foster City Director of Public Works and City Engineer, Hopper will give a presentation that focuses on the construction of the city and the unique features that make up the character of the city.

About the Speaker: Richard Hopper received his BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1964.  Following a stint in the U.S. Navy he moved to California in 1967.  After eight years working for the City of San Mateo, he was hired by the City of Foster City as Director of Public Works/City Engineer in 1975 and served in that position until 1980.  In 1980 he left public service and started a consulting civil engineering firm, RKH Civil and Transportation Engineering, in Foster City.  Richard and his wife, Marlene, live in Foster City on the water in the Isle Cove development. He is on the Board of Directors of the Isle Cove Homeowners Association, and serves as Treasurer of Foster City Village, a non-profit serving our older adults.  Lastly, he is a member of the San Mateo County Historical Association.
