Proposed Traffic Relief Pilot Program Survey – Deadline Extended to November 16
For Immediate Release: November 9, 2018
Contact: Jeff C. Moneda, City Manager, (650) 286-3288, jmoneda@fostercity.org
Have your voice be heard! To date, the City of Foster City has received over 250 survey responses to the proposed Traffic Relief Pilot Program survey. Due to the overwhelming interest in this program, the City will be extending the deadline by one-week (until November 16, 2018) to allow for further feedback from community members. Visit sustainable.fostercity.org/cds2018 today to take the brief online survey.
Your feedback, comments, and concerns will be brought to City Council for consideration at its regular meeting on December 17, 2018 at 6:30 PM (Council Chambers, 620 Foster City Boulevard, Foster City, CA 94404). All members of the public are invited to attend this meeting.
The proposed Traffic Relief Pilot Program was borne out of the growing concern from Foster City residents on the increased traffic congestion in Foster City due to cut-through traffic during peak evening commute hours. If implemented, the pilot program would restrict left turns on East Hillsdale Boulevard at Edgewater Boulevard and Shell Boulevard during 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The initial trial period would be three (3) months, with City Manager discretion to terminate the program at any time if deemed unsafe.
The City of Foster City had hosted a CommUNITY Dialogue Series meeting recently on October 20, 2018, where over 80 members of the public attended to discuss the transportation challenges facing the City and potential solutions towards remedying this critical issue, including the proposed Traffic Relief Pilot Program.
