Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is alerting drivers that work that will be taking place on Sunday, Dec. 8 will impact traffic on Highway 92 and various streets in Foster City.

PG&E crews and contractors will remove fiber cable from PG&E’s transmission towers in Foster City. This cable is inactive and was previously used for communication purposes.

Analysis of the cable, including crews climbing the towers and using drones to capture high-definition photos, has shown a potential for cable deterioration. Out of an abundance of caution, should the cable fail at some point, PG&E is removing it to mitigate any potential risk to public safety. This work will not affect power.

The work on Sunday, Dec. 8 will only impact portions of various streets in Foster City, including Lincoln Centre Drive, Foster City Blvd., Marsh Drive, and Vintage Park Drive. Work is expected to begin around 2 a.m. and be finished by 5 p.m. As a result of this work, at various times between approximately 6:30 and 9:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol will need to run rolling traffic breaks on portions of Highway 92.

PG&E has coordinated with the City of Foster City, the CHP, and Caltrans on the traffic plan required to complete this project. Drivers will notice PG&E or contractor crews, trucks and heavy equipment.

PG&E thanks motorists in advance for their patience and their focus on safe driving in this work zone.
