In partnership with San Mateo County Master Gardeners, the Foster City Parks and Recreation Department has started landscape enhancements adjacent to the Library Community Center at the corner of Shell Boulevard and East Hillsdale Boulevard. The landscape is expected to be completed by the end of March 2021, but is subject to change based on impacts related to weather, COVID-19, and plant availability. The community can expect periodic detours at Shell Boulevard & East Hillsdale Boulevard and Civic Center Drive & Shell Boulevard as work is completed and materials are loaded to the site.

This area will be transformed into a new habitat garden to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and insects. The new landscape will be drought tolerant and include a water efficiency surface drip system. The new garden will be open to the public and also serve as an educational tool for both children and adults interested in understanding how pollinators interact with plants.
