Nate Cruz Hired as Foster City Finance Director

Foster City is pleased to announce that Nate Cruz has been hired as the City’s next Finance Director. Mr. Cruz, who served previously as the Chief Financial Officer for the Port of San Francisco, has worked in municipal budgeting for nearly two decades. He takes his new position in Foster City on Wednesday, January 8.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Nate Cruz will be joining our Foster City team as Finance Director,” said City Manager Stefan Chatwin. “He will be a key asset in helping carefully manage our finances, while also leveraging his economic development experience to further establish Foster City as a welcoming and accommodating environment for businesses of any size.”
Prior to joining the San Francisco Port Authority, Cruz worked for Washington, D.C. as well as the City and County of San Francisco. Nate grew up and attended community college in the East Bay before earning a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in public policy from Carnegie Mellon University and graduated from the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program from the Harvard Kennedy School. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco.

Mr. Cruz lives with his wife and two daughters on the coast of San Mateo County. When not at work, he enjoys travelling, hiking, sailing, and cooking.
