Are you a frequent user of Foster City parks? Do you have opinions about the design and amenities that should be offered in these open spaces? Then join the Parks Master Plan Task Force! Foster City is seeking applications from community members interested in serving on the Task Force, which will advise the project team creating the Parks Master Plan. The plan will ultimately guide the development, maintenance, and funding of the community’s parks and recreational facilities and programs for decades to come.

Applications to serve on the Task Force are being sought from residents who use and enjoy the many parks and recreational amenities across Foster City. Some examples may include those involved in youth and adult sports leagues, sport court users (tennis, pickle ball, basketball, bocce etc.), recreational water users, cultural organizations, clubs for seniors, and many more. If you or someone you know regularly uses and appreciates the Foster City parks system, please consider applying.

The proposed composition of the task force will include 10 residents from the above user groups, as well as selected staff and members of the following citizen advisory committees and commission: Parks and Recreation Director (1); Parks Maintenance Manager (1); Recreation Manager; (1) Parks and Recreation Committee (2); Planning Commission (1); Citizen Sustainability Advisory Committee (1); Youth Advisory Committee (2).

Visit www.fostercity.org/parksmasterplan for an application or more information. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 26. Applicants must be Foster City residentsand able to attend several meetings occurring on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis which will begin in October and occur throughout the duration of the planning process, which is slated to complete in December 2025.

The Parks System consists of 24 parks, eight miles of levee pedway, and various other public open spaces. Despite continuous maintenance and improvements, many of the City’s parks are aging, requiring renewed attention to park infrastructure to ensure the parks system remains relevant and continues to meet the needs of residents now and into the future, which the plan is slated to address. The Parks and Recreation Department is leading this planning effort with the help of a consultant team to facilitate and write the Parks Master Plan.
