Jeff Moneda Selected to Succeed Kevin Miller as City Manager of Foster City (Appointment Effective July 1, 2018)

The City of Foster City City Council is pleased to announce that Jeff Moneda has been selected as the new City Manager, effective July 1, 2018, upon the retirement of Kevin Miller.
Moneda has been with the City of Foster City for 4 years and has served in municipal government for 19 years. Prior to his employment with the City of Foster City, he worked for the Cities of Chula Vista, La Palma, and Milpitas, California. Moneda also has 4 years of experience working as a Geotechnical Engineer in the private sector. Moneda holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University. He has volunteered in the community as a youth sports coach for his children’s activities during their younger years. Moneda is a California native and lives in Brisbane with his wife, Michelle. He has two grown children, Abigail and Nathaniel.
Mayor Sam Hindi indicated that, “I’m confident that we’ve made the right choice and I’m looking forward to working with Jeff to take advantage of all the great opportunities and face the challenges head on to ensure this City remains a great place to live, work, and play.”
During Jeff’s tenure as the Director of Public Works/City Engineer, he is credited with continuing to maintain high levels of service for all Public Works infrastructure that the residents enjoy. His proactive approach with maintenance has made Foster City the envy of many Cities who struggle to maintain infrastructure. This vision has contributed to Foster City being known as a “Great Place to Live Work and Play.”
Mayor Hindi said that, “His technical experience, relationships with the community, contributions as a member of the City executive team, strong leadership skills, passion for local government, responsiveness, and his professionalism have positioned him to lead and inspire the City organization as it continues to deliver excellent public service. I, along with the entire City Council, share every confidence in Jeff’s ability to manage the City well into the future.”
Jeff Moneda stated, “I am honored and excited for this opportunity to lead a team of passionate and dedicated individuals who strive to deliver the high levels of service that the residents expect. Foster City is a well-run City with the most passionate and engaged members of the community out of all the Cities that I have served. I look forward to this wonderful opportunity.”
The City Council is scheduled to review an employment agreement for Jeff Moneda at its regularly scheduled City Council meeting of Monday, May 7, at 6:30 pm in the City Council Chambers.
