Foster City received $1.38 million in federal funding to pay for upgrades to the Lagoon Pump Station, which will provide critical seismic and capacity upgrades to protect residents from flooding during severe storms. The federal earmarks come from collaboration with Congressman Kevin Mullin, who last week announced the Foster City project will be part of a larger round of funding for projects throughout the 15th Congressional District.
“We greatly appreciate Congressman Kevin Mullin for obtaining this $1.38 million toward this project,” said Mayor Patrick Sullivan. “His leadership will shine on our Lagoon forever.”
The most recent funding announcement from Congressman Mullin’s office is in addition to the $12.98 million that was approved in the first round of government funding bills for 14 regional projects. The earmarks were approved over the weekend by President Joe Biden when he signed a $1.2 trillion funding package.
“Delivering for my district is my primary goal as a Member of Congress and I was incredibly pleased to bring home $14.36 million in federal funding for local communities, including $1.3 million for Foster City. We live in earthquake territory and this funding for Foster City’s Lagoon Pump Station will support critical seismic upgrades while also expanding the capacity of infrastructure that provides flood protection and recreational amenities for residents,” said Congressman Mullin.
