Foster City Names Cory Call as Police Chief

Foster City is pleased to announce Cory Call has been appointed as Chief of the Foster City Police Department. Chief Call has been with the Foster City Police Department since 2001 and ascended through the ranks to most recently being named Captain of the Patrol Division in 2019. As Chief he will succeed Tracy Avelar, who was hired last month as Chief of the Pleasanton Police Department.
“We are thrilled to promote Chief Call, who has demonstrated admirable commitment to serving and protecting our community over the past two decades,” said City Manager Stefan Chatwin. “Under his leadership, I’m confident the Foster City Police Department will continue setting the highest standard of excellence in law enforcement for years to come.”
Chief Call earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University and a master's degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute (SLI), the LAPD Leadership Academy, and POST Command College.
