The City of Foster City is launching a new local campaign, “Get It Here: Support Local Foster City.” The City is kicking off the campaign by featuring one local business every week. On Thursday, March 7, 2019, local eatery, Falafel Tazah will be offering free “Support Local” tote bags to their first 30 customers, and one lucky tote bag will include a $25 gift card to the following week’s featured business, for more details visit local.fostercity.org.

The City recognizes the need to connect businesses within Foster City to each other (business-to-business), to its residents, to the 15,000-daytime working population, and to visitors, allowing for greater support, promotion, and connectivity amongst each other and the wider business community. “Get It Here: Support Local Foster City” is a campaign connected to Sustainable Foster City that encourages economic development, environmental stewardship, and social engagement and interaction. The campaign will “support the retention and expansion of independent and locally-owned businesses and increase awareness and civic pride about the personal, community, and economic benefits of supporting local,” said Dante Hall, Assistant City Manager.

One of the many features of “Get It Here: Support Local Foster City” is a website, local.fostercity.org, in which a directory comprising of over 800 local Foster City businesses will be able to claim their business, customize their business page with photos, logos, and other individual information, and connect with other businesses within Foster City. Businesses will be able to promote their commitment of supporting local through “Get It Here: Support Local Foster City” window decals, tote bags, and other marketing materials.

Vice Mayor Herb Perez said, “Foster City is in the hub of Silicon Valley, and we have an amazing opportunity to connect people within our community together and benefit the residents as times change. This is a great starting point for Foster City’s business network and will evolve as Foster City continues to grow.”
