Celebrate 50 years of Foster City with us, your neighbors, family, and friends! In honor of Foster City’s 50th birthday on April 27, 2021, the City will be planning a series of hybrid (virtual and socially distanced in-person) celebratory events during the remainder of the year.
Anniversary festivities include something for everyone, from contests and pop-up campaigns to games and trivia. Community members can look forward to:
- Virtual Birthday Cake Decorating Photo Contest
- Pop of Joy Campaign
- Themed Virtual Bingo/Trivia
- Drive-in Concert
- Drive-in Movies
- Rubber Ducky Races Fundraiser
- And more!
Among the celebratory activities is a Vehicle-Based Community Parade where residents will have the opportunity to come together safely to rejoice around this milestone occasion. All events and activities will be in accordance with COVID-19 public health emergency and associated Shelter in Place orders and are subject to change.
“We can’t wait to celebrate Foster City! It has been a tough year for everyone, and this is something we can all look forward to and enjoy,” said Mayor Sanjay Gehani. “This major milestone is about celebrating all the unique things that make our community the best place to live, work, and play. We hope everyone will join in the festivities as they get underway.”
In addition to the activities on the City’s 50th Anniversary Calendar, community members can enter a photo contest for a 2022 Foster City themed calendar, sign the online Anniversary Yearbook, and/or plan your own event! Local businesses and community organizations are invited to join in on the City’s 50th Anniversary festivities and can access branding guidelines on the anniversary website.
“City staff have worked tirelessly on these celebratory activities,” said City Manager Peter Pirnejad. “There are many ways people and organizations can get involved, from highlighting celebratory activities on social media to sharing their stories and sponsoring events. We’re looking forward to the entire community coming together to celebrate everything Foster City.”
Foster City 50th Anniversary banners and signage will also begin appearing throughout the City at Leo J. Ryan Park, along East Hillsdale Boulevard, and some City buildings for everyone to enjoy. Community members are invited to share their celebratory photos and memories on social media with us by using the following hashtags: #FosterCity50 #WeareFC.
