Following five years of dedicated service to the City of Foster City, City Manager Jeff Moneda announced on Tuesday, April 7 that he will end his term as the City Manager effective June 7, 2020.
Moneda served as the City’s Public Works Director/City Engineer when he first started in 2014, later then being appointed as the City Manager in 2018. During his tenure, he is credited, along with his staff, for maintaining high levels of services; as well as spearheading various long-term, capital improvement programs – including, but not limited to, the Levee Protection Planning & Improvements Project and the Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project. Moneda also oversaw the transition of the City’s fire services to the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department Joint Powers Authority.
Mayor Catherine Mahanpour addressed City Manager Moneda’s announcement stating, “We truly appreciate and recognize the contributions of City Manager Moneda during his time here in Foster City. We wish him continued success in his future endeavors.”
Moneda, originally from Southern California, stated, “The decision to move back to Southern California and to be closer to family was a quality of life decision for me, and I was given an opportunity that I couldn’t refuse.” Moneda will be moving onto a new employment opportunity in Southern California.
In his comments to City Council and City staff, Moneda said, “This has been the best City that I have worked for and I have had the privilege to work with the best teammates that a City Manager could have asked for. Working with such talented and dedicated teammates has been a pleasure and the City is in such great shape because of all of your contributions.”
“I want to reassure the community that we will work together to ensure a seamless transition for the City, especially during this time,” said Mayor Mahanpour. “I am confident we will be able to do so and build upon the foundation we currently already have in place.” The City Council is scheduled to meet later this week to discuss next steps, including the selection process, for the next City Manager of Foster City.
