Foster City Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Community Car Parade on May 2
For Immediate Release: April 15, 2021
Contact: FC50@fostercity.org
In celebration of the City’s 50th Anniversary, a car parade with City vehicles and community groups will drive through town via a predetermined route to commemorate the milestone on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Foster City residents are encouraged to join in the festivities by cheering the vehicles on as they drive by your neighborhood or nearby park!
The car parade will start at the Recreation Center (650 Shell Boulevard) and drive at a speed of 15 MPH with City vehicles leading the way. The route will include driving by larger city parks so residents who may not have a direct view of the parade can go to their nearby park to have the opportunity to view the celebration. Find the route online at www.fostercity.org/carparade. Community groups may participate in the parade, and vehicle pre-registration will be required. To register, email FC50@fostercity.org.
“We invite all community members to help us celebrate this major milestone,” said City Manager Peter Pirnejad. “Create a Foster City sign, grab your face mask, and cheer on the parade, all in the name of Foster City!”
At the end of the parade, pre-registered residents can follow the vehicles back to the Recreation Center and drive on through to receive a free commemorative treat distributed at 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM. Register online at registration.fostercity.org.
Community members can enter a photo contest for a 2022 Foster City themed calendar, sign the online Anniversary Yearbook, buy anniversary swag on the new online store (beginning April 16), and more.
