By repairing streets proactively on an annual basis, the roadways in Foster City consistently rank among the best maintained roadways in the Bay Area, which contributes to the high quality of life we enjoy in the City.

The Street Rehabilitation Project is separated into various segments. Along Vintage Park Drive, the portion north of Lakeside Drive will involve a full reconstruction of the roadway pavement section. The portion south of Lakeside Drive consists of asphalt grinding and overlaying. In Neighborhoods 2 and 3, the following streets will be crack sealed and receive a slurry seal treatment: Gull Avenue, Crane Avenue (from Gull Ave to Stilt Court), Killdeer Court, Mallard Street, Surfbird Isle, Marlin Avenue, Tarpon Street, Swordfish Street, and Pompano Circle. At all project locations, the Contractor will perform curb ramp retrofitting, curb and gutter repairs, and restriping including bike sharrows on any road classified as a Class III Bike Route.

The City’s contractor, O’Grady Paving, Inc. will begin roadway construction on August 24th, 2020. Barring any weather-related delays, work is expected to be completed by early November. Work will take place Monday through Friday. Construction hours on Vintage Park Drive are typically between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Given current traffic conditions brought upon by the current public health situation, the City will allow work between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Should traffic conditions change, work will revert to typical construction hours. In the neighborhoods, working hours shall also be between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. During construction, lanes may be temporarily closed and on-street parking prohibited during the day of work. Access to driveways may also be restricted. Please follow posted signs and traffic control measures for safe travel through construction zone.

The City appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation for any inconveniences caused by construction activities as we strive to improve the roadways in Foster City. Please contact the Public Works Department at (650) 286-3270 if you have any questions or comments.

Updated project information will be posted on the City’s website at www.fostercity.org.
