Construction Advisory Notice: Intersection Improvements Along Foster City Blvd. at E. Third Ave. and Metro Center Blvd. (CIP 301-667)

Starting July 8, 2019, the City’s contractor, FBD Vanguard Construction, Inc., will begin construction of intersection improvements to reduce queuing on Foster City Boulevard at the East Third Avenue and Metro Center Boulevard intersections to help alleviate heavy traffic during afternoon peak commute hours. Barring any weather-related delays, work is expected to be completed by early September.

The project will provide additional right turn lanes at the two intersections by reducing the existing concrete pork chop islands. The scope of work will involve minor demolition, installation of new concrete curb and gutter, surface restoration, striping work, and installation of new traffic signs. To minimize disruptions, work will take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. During construction, a travel lane through the work zone will be maintained at all times. At the intersection of East Third Avenue and Foster City Boulevard, the crosswalk and pedestrian passageway may be temporarily closed. The City’s contractor will provide alternate pedestrian routes during this period. Please follow posted signs and traffic control measures for safe travel through the construction zone.
