Community members are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony celebrating construction of the Foster City Community Center (formerly the Foster City Recreation Center) on Wednesday, December 18, at 11 a.m. in Leo Ryan Park at 650 Shell Blvd. The event will take place rain or shine, and attendees should plan to wear closed-toe shoes since it will occur at an active construction site. Please RSVP by visiting https://www.eventbrite.com/e/foster-city-community-center-groundbreaking-ceremony-tickets-1112123133229?aff=oddtdtcreator.

“We hope residents and community members join us to celebrate this unique and exciting project,” said Parks and Recreation Director Derek Schweigart. “The new Community Center will be a central hub that brings Foster City together for generations to come, and after years of planning, we are thrilled to finally commemorate the start of construction at this ceremony.”

Demolition of the former William E. Walker Recreation Center is underway, making way for a brand-new facility that will expand the opportunities for events and recreation. With spaces for small, medium, and large-scale classes, meetings and events; fitness, dance, and exercise classes; arts programs; senior communities and events; and more, the new Foster City Community Center will offer Foster City a wide range of specialized and flexible spaces to meet, learn, and recreate.
