In an effort to remain cautious and keep our residents and visitors safe, this Fourth of July in Foster City won’t look like most years, but City staff have developed a full day of fun activities and events for the family to enjoy! The event will take place on Sunday, July 4th and will offer virtual and modified in-person experiences, including some fan favorites, like the Rotary Club's Pancake Breakfast, a barbecue lunch by the Lions Club, and activities hosted by Recreation staff. Patrons who purchase food at the event will be able to access the Picnic Plaza in the meadow of Leo Ryan Park (near the Senior Wing parking lot) that will be set up with socially distanced picnic areas, along with free lawn games.
“We look forward to seeing our community get together this year to celebrate our nation’s independence,” said City Manager Peter Pirnejad. “Throughout the pandemic, staff has continued to show innovation and creativity in coming up with new ways for the community to stay involved, get together, and have some fun, and participants in this year’s Fourth of July celebration will see that.”
Dog Contest
One of the most beloved events from the annual Fourth of July Celebration is our dog contest. To ensure that everyone can enjoy the event, components of this year's contest will be held both virtually and in-person. The categories for this year’s contest will be: Most Patriotic, Dog/Owner Look-alike, Most Beautiful/Handsome, Best Trick, and Fastest Eater.
The Best Trick and Fastest Eater entries will be required to come to Leo Ryan Park on July 4th as judging will take place in-person. The other categories will be voted for online. To register for any of the Dog Contest categories, please go to www.fostercity.org/july4th and click the Dog Contest button.
Voting: On Sunday, July 4th, the public can vote for their favorites online from 12pm to 3pm.
