Tree Removal and Replacement Project on Edgewater Boulevard Medians from Antares Lane to Ram Lane

Starting November 3, 2020, and continuing for approximately ten (10) days, the City’s contractor Arborists Now Inc. will be removing 33 trees from the median area of Edgewater Boulevard between Antares and Ram Lanes.  All drivers are asked to proceed with caution as there may be traffic delays between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday during the construction period.

In total, 21 Monterey Pine trees and 12 Black Acacia trees are scheduled to be removed as part of this project. They will be replaced with 16 Tristainia Conferta (Brisbane Box) and 14 Lagerstroemia Indica (Crepe Myrtle) trees. Monterey Pine and Black Acacia trees have an invasive root structure that, over time, damages City roadways.  The replacement species were chosen due to their non-invasive root structures.

Rehabilitation of this section of the street was completed in Spring 2020. Replacement of the trees will increase the roadways’ post-rehabilitation useful life.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work.  Please contact Parks Manager Peter Chiamos at pchiamos@fostercity.org if you have questions about this project.
