In preparation for construction to begin on Foster City’s new Recreation Center, the City will be holding a public sealed-bid auction to sell a surplus of items that will not be reused in the new facility. Items for auction, which are being sold as is, include various office supplies, ceramics studio equipment, a pool table, a commercial freezer, a dishwasher, microwaves, couches, benches, and much more.
“After decades of being in operation, Foster City has accumulated many items to help ensure the Recreation Center provided consistent and high-quality service to the community,” said Parks and Recreation Director Derek Schweigart. “Not only will the auction assist us in getting ready for rebuilding the Recreation Center, but it also provides new life for these well-maintained pieces.”
The Lagoon Room of the Recreation Center will be open to the public from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Monday, September 30, through Wednesday, October 2, to showcase the items for auction. During this time, staff will also be accepting sealed bids. Those with the highest bids will be notified of their accepted offer between Thursday, October 3 through Friday, October 4. All sold items must then be picked up either Monday, October 7 or Tuesday, October 8. Please be advised that payment for auctioned items must be received by the City in the form of either exact cash, check, or PayPal before they are released to the winners. Those picking up the items must also be able to load and unload the purchased pieces themselves.
