Foster City community members interested in learning more about Foster City’s annual budget and issues adversely impacting the City’s finances are invited to upcoming Town Hall meetings. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about core services that the City provides, infrastructure needs, public safety, annual budget, and more. The City will also be discussing potential updates to the City’s current Business License Tax that would help maintain the City’s long term financial sustainability.

There are two Town Hall meetings scheduled, an in-person meeting on Wednesday, May 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 620 Foster City Boulevard, and a virtual session on Thursday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Participation is free and open to the public. For those unable to attend, sessions will be recorded and posted to the City’s YouTube channel. To register for either of these sessions, please visit: https://www.fostercity.org/fiscalsustainability. The matter will also be discussed at the City Council meeting on May 20.

The webpage linked above also includes an online community survey to gather feedback on residents' priorities for City services, and general information on City services, financial outlook, and FAQs related to Business License Tax. Additionally, the webpage offers opportunities for local businesses and community organizations to schedule appointments with City staff to discuss the proposed Business License Tax modernization effort.

“Our City is committed to maintaining services and our quality of life in Foster City for both its residential and business communities, and community feedback on the path forward is vital,” said City Manager Stefan Chatwin. “I encourage everyone to participate in both the community survey and the upcoming Town Hall events to learn more about the City’s fiscal challenges, possible solutions and share your thoughts.”
