The City of Foster City and Gilead Sciences have proudly reconfirmed their partnership intended to advance the organizations’ shared strategic goal of building a brighter future through a commitment to community, sustainability, and equity.
The private-public partnership will take shape in a variety of ways over the coming year including seeking opportunities to collaborate on sustainability initiatives, cooperatively examining opportunities to improve City facilities such as the Recreation Center, and celebrating the new Gilead Park & Wellbeing Center on the Gilead campus at a ribbon cutting ceremony in June.
The efforts align via the City’s commitment in its Mission Statement to “create a sustainable Foster City through smart, inclusive and efficient action to enhance our quality of place for current and future generations,” as well as the Gilead Foundation’s dedication to enhancing its local community through a charitable focus on STEM education, social services, and sustainability.
“We are thrilled to partner with Gilead Sciences on these important projects that will benefit our shared community and improve the quality of life for decades to come in Foster City,” said Foster City Mayor Richa Awasthi. “Having made generous contributions in the past, Gilead Sciences has long been an upstanding corporate citizen as well as a good neighbor, and the company’s willingness to continually collaborate with the City demonstrates a recommitment to those values.”
“It is our privilege to call Foster City our home for more than three decades and we are committed to remaining a supportive partner for years to come,” said Joydeep Ganguly, Senior Vice President, Corporate Operations, Gilead Sciences. “We are proud of the impact we’ve had by making meaningful contributions and investing in our local community. We recognize our responsibility to work hand-in-hand with the city and our neighbors to realize our common commitment towards a sustainable future. Thank you to our local leaders for the continued collaboration.”
Foster City Interim City Manager Kevin Miller celebrated the partnership as well. “The City of Foster City is privileged to have Gilead Sciences as a devoted partner in the joint mission to make our community an even greater place to live, work, and play,” said Mr. Miller.
