Exchange Zone for Private Property Transactions
Contact: Captain Tracy Avelar, (650) 286-3300, tavelar@fostercity.org
As of June 22, 2017, we now have a designated area available for private property transactions. Foster City residents may now conduct merchandise exchanges in the Exchange Zone located in the front parking lot of the police department.
The police department's public parking lot offers a safer alternative in which to conduct a pre-arranged merchandise exchange. The goal is to help reduce victimization and prevent illegal transactions. This is not intended to include transactions involving the sale of any contraband, stolen property, gun sales, or the sale of illegal items or prohibited services.
A sign has been placed in the first parking stall of the police department public parking lot. The area is under 24 hour surveillance, but is not monitored. The City of Foster City employees cannot act as an official witness to transactions, do not give legal advice and will not settle civil disputes to any transactions. The City of Foster City or its employees are also not responsible in any way for the value, authenticity or legitimacy of such transactions.
When possible, please inform the police department of your presence. An appointment is not necessary as we are open 24 hours a day.
