APWA National Public Works Week 2018

Since 1960, the American Public Works Association (APWA) has sponsored National Public Works Week. Across North America, more than 30,000 members in the U.S. and Canada use this week to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works to their daily lives: planning, building, managing and operating at the heart of their local communities to improve everyday quality of life.

“The Power of Public Works” theme for 2018 gives voice to the impact that the many facets of public works have on modern civilization. From providing clean water to disposing of solid waste, to building roads and bridges or planning for and implementing mass transit, to devising emergency management strategies to meet natural or manmade disasters, public works services determine a society’s quality of life. Help us honor the vital contribution public works professionals make every day to communities all across North America and celebrate their quiet dedication and indispensable influence on our way of life.
