CIP 301-650: Catamaran Park Play Area & Beach Renovation Project

The Catamaran Park Play Area and Beach Renovation Project was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Capital Improvement Plan. Components of the project include the replacement of the Catamaran Park play structure, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) site improvements, and synthetic turf installation for the beach bulkhead.

The Parks Infrastructure Improvement Project at Catamaran Park, which is a component of CIP 301-650, includes:

  • Demolition
  • Site grading
  • Site Drainage
  • ADA compliance for play structure and surrounding area
  • Installation of play structure
  • Installation of attenuation surfacing for play structure
  • Retaining wall
  • Fencing of the play area
  • Picnic Area
  • Site Furnishings
  • Synthetic turf on beach bulkhead

Project Status:

The award of construction contract and Notice to Proceed has been issued to Suarez & Munoz Construction, Inc.. Construction has begun and is anticipated to be complete by June of 2016. 

While the construction is in progress, there will be no access to the west side pedestrian walkway to Shell Bridge, at Catamaran Park. Pedestrians are advised to use the crosswalk at Catamaran St. & Shell Blvd. to access the east side walkway, which will be open during construction. Please also refer to signage at the location for specific instructions to ensure pedestrian safety and convenience.
