On 3/2/2019, a 27-year old Foster City resident was the victim of an attempted robbery that resulted in injuries. The victim listed two gaming consoles for sale on an online app. He communicated with a potential buyer and arranged to show the two consoles at his house. Two men and a woman arrived by car. The victim took one of the male suspects into his residence to inspect the two consoles. The victim and suspect each brought a console outside to show it to the second suspect. As the victim and the suspect arrived at the car, the suspect jumped into the car. The second suspect, seated in the driver’s seat, reached out and tried to grab the second console from the victim’s hands. As the victim struggled to hold onto the console, the suspect started to drive away causing the victim to fall. A witness was able to obtain the license plate of the vehicle before it sped away.
FCPD officers responded to the residence and began their investigation, which included placing a felony warrant on the license plate number of the suspect vehicle.
The suspects were located the next day by Oakland Police Officers when an automated license plate reader alert indicated the car had been used to commit a felony crime. The officers stopped the car with the two suspects in it near their residence. During the stop, officers contacted the woman outside the residence and detained the three of them. FCPD officers and detectives responded to the location in Oakland and arrested the three suspects. As part of the investigation, FCPD detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspects’ residence. During the search, detectives recovered the victim’s stolen property along with other items.
Booked into the San Mateo County Jail and charged with burglary, attempted robbery, and conspiracy to commit a crime are 21-year old, Capitola resident Echo Lemke and 23-year old, Oakland resident Jason Murphy. 18-year old, Oakland resident Brianna Perez received a citation for possession of stolen property and was released with a court date.
